VoIP Phone Issue [RESOLVED] http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=21680 UPDATE @ 8:45am:  The campus VoIP service has returned to normal.  However, if you are still experiencing issues, please contact the C&IT Help Desk at 313-577-HELP or via email (helpdesk@wayne.edu). ============================================== UPDATE @ 1:15pm:  The situation at Wayne State is improving; less than 10% of WSU phone calls are getting busy signals. We expect the trend to continue and the issue to be fully resolved shortly, as AT&T is replacing the faulty equipment in their network. ============================================== UPDATE @ 12:15pm: AT&T has made progress in repairing the outage.  Calls are being successfully completed, however there are still reports of failed calls.  AT&T continues to work on the issue.   ============================================== VoIP phones are having intermittent issues as of 9:30 a.m. on November 28. Calls to and from outside numbers are not completing. This includes many campus call centers. During this outage, the C&IT Help Desk can be reached via email (helpdesk@wayne.edu) or chat. Other internal VoIP-to-VoIP calls should complete successfully. Skype for Business allows for real-time text, audio and video communication with all Wayne State email users. This phone-free communication alternative is always available. Find out how to get started right here. C&IT has contacted AT&T regarding VoIP and has been informed that this is a widespread issue beyond Wayne State. We are hoping for an efficient resolution. Check this news posting for updates. Wayne State University Tue, 29 Nov 2016 00:00:00 EDT http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=21680 VoIP Update http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=21075 AT&T is expanding Wayne State's telephone infrastructure so more campus telephone users can be upgraded to VoIP. Current VoIP phones are being moved to the updated infrastructure next week (Oct. 31 through Nov. 4). Each day, a group of phones will be migrated to our new equipment at 2 a.m. This change will have no expected user impact. If you have a problem with your phone at any time, remember the C&IT Help Desk is available via email at helpdesk@wayne.edu. Reminder: To ensure your Wayne State phone calls and voicemails get through during the VoIP upgrade, you need to dial full phone numbers, for example: 9-1-313-577-1234. This will no longer be necessary once the VoIP upgrade is complete. Wayne State University Wed, 26 Oct 2016 23:00:00 EDT http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=21075 Campus Voicemail Issue [Updated] http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=21002 Update 10/21: Voicemail issues have been resolved as of Friday, Oct. 21. The system has been repaired and is now operational.  Due to the hardware malfunction, any voicemail messages received between Saturday, Oct. 14, and Tuesday, Oct. 18, cannot be retrieved. This error only affects the (old) Centrex phone system and not VoIP users. Update 10/20: Issues persist. C&IT is investigating workarounds and continues work with multiple vendor partners. Update 10/19: An ongoing hardware malfunction continues to cause campus phone problems. Non-VoIP campus phone users are still unable to access voicemail. Additionally, campus call centers are currently unable to use their auto attendant feature. This is the feature that automatically answers calls and allows you to reach the right person by pressing 1, 2, etc. Please be aware that your call may ring for some time before an employee is able answer and manually route it to the appropriate person. See a list of affected call centers here. A hardware malfunction is causing problems for all campus voicemail users who have not been upgraded to VoIP (i.e., users who still have beige phones). Impacted users are unable to access their voicemail inbox to listen to messages or change greetings. Users are also unable to receive new messages. Phone calls are functioning as normal. C&IT is working with our vendor partners to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Check @WayneStateCIT on Twitter for live updates. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the C&IT Help Desk 313-577-4357 or helpdesk@wayne.edu. The campus-wide telephone system upgrade to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones continues to move forward. Phase 2 buildings will have their VoIP phones go live in the coming weeks. Remember, because of an AT&T limitation, five-digit dialing between the older campus phones and the new VoIP phones is not available and will result in a fast busy signal or a "Number Not in Service" message. If you use five-digit dialing your call may not go through or you may reach an inactive voice mailbox. Please dial ten-digit phone numbers (ex. 9-1-313-577-1234) for all on-campus calls. Once everyone has been transitioned to VoIP, five-digit dialing will again be available. More information about the upgrade including VoIP FAQs is available at computing.wayne.edu/voip. Your patience during this process is appreciated. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact the C&IT Help Desk at 313-577-4357 or helpdesk@wayne.edu. C&IT's Telecommunications team is aware of this issue, and we are working with our vendors to resolve it as quickly as possible.   We will send an update when it is resolved.  We regret the inconvenience caused by this issue, and thank you for your patience. This service enhancement is available in two options: Voicemail only - All calls are routed directly to WSU Voicemail and messages are sent to your Wayne Connect inbox as an attachment. Mobile Routing - All calls are routed to your mobile number. Unanswered calls are routed to WSU Voicemail and messages are sent to your Wayne Connect inbox as an attachment. Note: There is no installation fee, just a recurring monthly fee to your department - which in many cases, is lower than current charges for standard desk phone service. Standard mobile phone usage charges will apply. To see if this option is right for you, please visit computing.wayne.edu/vtn. If you have any questions, please contact the IT Customer Services Help Desk at (313) 577-1977. Not interested in a Virtual Telephone Number? Message receipt failure notification (Error Code 401 or 511): Voicemail box contains an error message stating:  “Your message, sent on <date and time> could not be delivered.  Error code 401 (or 511) due to an unknown problem” Reason for this message failure:   Someone the end user called and left a voicemail for has WSU feature “voicemail to email” enabled.  The delivery failure error is because the voicemail system is unable to deliver a COPY of the voicemail message to the recipients email inbox.  This delivery failure is due to the technical issues we are experiencing with Wayne Connect this week. What to do:  No action is necessary on your part.  The called party HAS received your voicemail message on their telephone.  The message that was rejected is simply a COPY intended for email delivery.   After email issues are resolved, you may elect to resend the message (by pressing 1 7) if desired, but again the messages have been and continue to deliver to all telephones.  We do ask that you please refrain from attempting to resend the message until the email issues are fully resolved as currently it will only result in another rejection of the file. At that time, a temporary password was provided to simplify self-service enrollment. For long-term security, that temporary password will expire today, Friday, November 18, at 6 p.m.  After 6 p.m., you will no longer be able to self-enroll and must instead fill out a Telephone Service Request to obtain a password for voice mailbox access. We strongly recommend that you complete the self-enrollment process before 6 p.m. today to avoid disruptions to your voicemail services. Voicemail messages will continue to record for all WSU phone lines, but you will not be able to access messages without a valid PIN. The web inbox feature located at voicemail.wayne.edu will also be enhanced during this time. All web inbox users will need to reactivate service by submitting a Telephone Service Request.   Note: The web inbox feature is separate from the voicemail to email feature which sends voicemails to your Wayne Connect inbox as a .wav file. Was your office address or phone number incorrect in the last printed directory?  Please take a minute NOW to review your Personal Information in WSU Pipeline. (See instructions below.) Your profile in Pipeline feeds the Banner Administrative System, and the faculty and staff listings in the WSU Directory are taken directly from Banner.   For the 2012 printed Directory, we will print the first three unique lines of your campus address from your Personal Information profile in WSU Pipeline, along with your campus phone and AccessID email address. When you check your Personal Information, make sure your campus mailing address includes room number and building name.   To update your campus and home information in Banner: Log in to WSU Pipeline at http://pipeline.wayne.edu using your WSU AccessID and password. Click the "Employee" tab. Under "Employee Self-Service", click the "View Personal Info" link. On the "Personal Information" tab that displays, click the "Update Address(es) and Phone(s)" link. Follow the instructions on this page to change your work or home addresses and/or phone numbers. NOTE: Before inserting a new address, you m ust place an end date in the old address. If you need assistance updating your Personal Information, please contact the C&IT Help Desk, (313) 577-4778 or helpdesk@wayne.edu. NOTE:  Due to concerns regarding privacy of employee personal information, the home address and home phone number for WSU employees are no longer displayed in either the online University Directory or the printed Faculty and Staff Directory.   ** FSD_Editor cannot make changes to the WHITE PAGES **   -- Computing & Information Technology Wayne State University Detroit, Michigan http://computing.wayne.edu/   Wayne State University Mon, 31 Oct 2011 23:00:00 EDT http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=7543 Update your S/C/D or dept. info NOW for the 2012 WSU Directory (GREEN PAGES) http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=7544 [This message was sent via email to WSU Management and WSU Secretaries and Assistants on November 1, 2011.] Please click the link below to download or view a pdf memo about the importance of and deadline for submitting updates for the 2012 WSU Faculty & Staff Directory (Green Pages) at:   http://networks.wayne.edu/onlinedirectory/GreenPagesUpdate-2012-Memo.pdf   Our thanks in advance for helping us produce the most accurate (and cost effective) printed WSU Faculty and Staff Directory possible.   --- WSU Faculty and Staff Directory Editor FSD_Editor@lists.wayne.edu Computing and Network Services Computing and Information Technology Wayne State University Wayne State University Mon, 31 Oct 2011 23:00:00 EDT http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=7544 WSU Voicemail upgrade coming this November http://computing.wayne.edu/news-item.php?id=7511 [This message was sent via email to All Employees on October 24, 2011.] Next month, an upgrade to our current system will provide Wayne State employees with enhanced flexibility and new features to manage their voicemail. There are a few important things you should know:  ·      Your voicemail system will be unavailable for the morning of Monday, November 14. ·      Voicemails will not transfer to the new system. Make sure you have all the information you need from your current voicemails (new and saved) before the upgrade. ·      After the upgrade, you will need to complete a self-enrollment process during which you re-record your personal greeting and reset your password. The new WSU Voicemail system will allow you to receive a copy of voicemail messages in your Wayne Connect email inbox, manage your voicemail from a secure website, and listen to your voicemail messages from a computer.   Additionally, you can use the same familiar prompts to listen to and manage your voicemail. WSU's Voicemail access number, 577-3456, stays the same too!   Note: You do not need to take any action at this time. Stay tuned for more information regarding WSU's Voicemail upgrade.
