How do I log in to the VPN using Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication may be used to securely log in to the Wayne State University VPN. You may sign up for two-factor authentication by going to vpn.wayne.edu/secure and following the prompts. Follow the steps below to log in to the WSU VPN using two-factor with either Pulse Secure, the web or a mobile device.

Pulse Secure

  1. C&IT recommends using the Pulse Secure client to connect to the WSU VPN. Learn how to download and configure Pulse Secure on the C&IT Knowledge Base.
  2. Download and configure Pulse Secure on your computer.
  3. Log in with your AccessID and password.

  4. Pulse Secure will ask for your secondary password. Choose the appropriate option based on the settings you chose when enrolling for two-factor authentication.
    • Push: If you have the Duo mobile security app downloaded and configured, type push and you will receive a push notification to verify your login.
    • Phone 1: If you have a phone number configured, type phone1 (or phone2, phone3, etc. depending on your settings) to receive a phone call or text message. (DO NOT include a space between the word phone and number of the device you are using.)
    • Passcode: Type passcode to receive a text message or Duo app message, depending on your account settings.
