ResNet is the residential computer network provided to students and staff living at Wayne State University. ResNet lets you connect your personal computer directly to WSU's computer network and, through the University network, to the Internet.
A ResNet connection is available for residents in Wayne State's Ghafari Hall (formerly North Hall), South Hall, The Towers Residential Suites, University Towers, DeRoy Apartments, Chatsworth Tower Apartments, and Sherbrooke Apartments.
There is no extra cost for a ResNet connection. However, residents who do not follow the terms of the ResNet policy may be permanently disconnected and face disciplinary charges under the Student Code of Conduct.
Note: Rogue routers are responsible for many outages on the ResNet. Therefore, routers and equipment that performs routing functions are strictly forbidden. If you find you need more network ports than you have, use a plain switch or hub.
If you are not sure something is allowed, send a note to ResNet@wayne.edu or call the C&IT Help Desk at (313) 577-4778 before you connect it. They will advise you whether it is allowed.
Residents with rogue routers will have their network access suspended and be subject to reconnection fees. See the ResNet policy for details.
