Wayne Connect upgrade to take place evenings and weekends beginning May 11 May 4, 2012
Staff from Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) and Merit Networks will upgrade the hardware that runs Wayne Connect Email (Zimbra) during evenings and weekends, beginning Friday, May 11 at 6 p.m.
Wayne Connect will continue to operate during the upgrade. However, each account will be unavailable for a a brief moment, while the email messages and files are migrated to the new hardware.
The email migrations to new hardware are scheduled to start on May 11, at 6 p.m. and will run for several weeks.
Note: No active migrations will happen during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. During off hours and on weekends, if you are logged in or try to log in to Wayne Connect while your account is being migrated, you may receive an error. Depending on the size of your mailbox, the interruption could last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. Simply try to log in again.
This hardware upgrade is phase 2 of 3 of a larger improvement project to the Wayne Connect system. Phase 1 increased spam filtering capacity and was completed in April. Phase 3 wll upgrade to Zimbra version 7.x and is scheduled for late summer 2012.
C&IT has contracted with Merit Networks , to provide and service Wayne Connect/Zimbra at Wayne State.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. If you have questions, please contact the C&IT Help Desk at (313) 577-4778 or helpdesk@wayne.edu.
