How to set up and connect to WSU-SECURE using Windows XP
Following are instructions for setting up a secure wireless connection on the wireless@wayne network, using the WSU-SECURE SSID. (An SSID is the public name for a wireless network.)
Many steps are listed on this page, but the process only takes a few minutes and you only have to set up the WSU-SECURE connection one time.
Before you begin, please check the following:
- Administrator rights to your computer are needed to download and install the security certificate required, and to connect to the network.
- The instructions on this page use the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) service. Check to see whether you are using WZC.
- If you use third-party network management software on your computer, download and install the security certificate, follow the instructions that came with the software, and apply the settings under Configure your WSU-SECURE wireless network.
- You must be located near one of the WSU-SECURE wireless access points (APs). Check APs by building.
