Tips

Wayne State students, faculty and staff can access the Internet and Wayne State's network from various locations and in numerous ways:

WSU employees, including graduate assistants, also have direct access to restricted resources on Wayne State's network through the Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPN uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, which provides secure communications on the Internet and is found in standard Web browsers. Using the SSL VPN, a computer effectively and securely becomes part of the Wayne State University network—regardless of its location.

WSU faculty, researchers, and graduate students also can access and run applications on Internet2, which develops and deploys advanced network applications and technologies for research and higher education. For more information, visit http://internet2.edu; to discuss getting access on campus, call (313) 577-5558.

For personal assistance or additional information about how to access the Internet on campus or from home, visit the Websites noted above or contact the C&IT Help Desk at (313) 577-4778 or helpdesk@wayne.edu.
