Recycling old electronic equipment

If you are disposing of personally-owned equipment, follow the helpful tips below.

Donate it

Before you donate remove personal information from your PC.
- For Windows, use Eraser, which is free from Heidi Computers.
- If you have a Mac, get SuperScrubber. Don't forget you can receive an Apple discount if you are a WSU student, faculty or staff member.

Pick a donation center:
- RECONNECT – Goodwill Industries and Dell partnership. Goodwill Industries takes computers at Goodwill locations statewide.
- Share the technology – List your donation or find an organization in your area.
- techsoup.org: Donate Hardware Web page. Type in your zip code for listings of recyclers in your area.

The Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County – 24 hours per day, seven days a week recycling drop-off center, located at 20000 W. 8 Mile Rd, on the northeast corner of 8 Mile and Evergreen Roads in Southfield.
