The WSU Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) PC Clinic (The Clinic) provides limited service on non-university desktop and laptop (notebook) computers. This is a fee-based This is a PDF file carry-in repair service for computers that are NOT owned by Wayne State University.

Currently, C&IT PC Clinic's work space is extremely limited, so keep in mind these important details:

Is the computer worth fixing?

Is your computer worth the expense of repair or would the money be better spent on a new computer?

What services are available?

Two types of services are available: Basic and Additional.

Basic Services is limited to computers that meet the minimum system requirements. Basic Services include:

Note: For computers not meeting the minimum system requirements, services may be performed at the discretion of The Clinic at the standard hourly rate. The Clinic cannot support non-WSU ISPs, such as AOL and Comcast.

Who can request this service?

The Clinic is exclusively for active Wayne State University students, faculty and staff on individual non-university owned (home) computers. WSU departments that have University computers in need of service should contact their local technical support staff.

How do I make an appointment?

Before you schedule an appointment, call the C&IT Help Desk and try to resolve your computer problem over the phone. If, after speaking with the Help Desk staff person, the problem cannot be resolved, set up an appointment with the Help Desk staff person to bring your computer in.

If you know beforehand that your computer requires the services of The Clinic, e-mail a request for an appointment to pcclinic@wayne.edu.

Where do I take my computer to get serviced?

Once you have scheduled an appointment with The Clinic, take your computer to C&IT Customer Services, located at

5425 Woodward Ave, Suite 100

At that time, you must sign the Terms of Service Agreement This is a PDF file before any work will be performed on your computer.

Is there anything else I need to bring in addition to my computer?

When you come to The Clinic, bring either your power cord or laptop (notebook) power adapter and all appropriate software (operating system software and/or application software). Leave them with your computer, preferably in a bag with your name and AccessID on it.

How can I check the status of my computer?

Depending on the number and type of requests in the queue, completion of services can take 3 to 5 business days. We can give you a more accurate timeframe once your computer is checked in at The Clinic. If you need your computer back by the next business day, an expedite service is available.

To check the status of your computer: login to WSU Pipeline, click the Computing tab, and view My CallTracker Tickets.

NOTE: If you need to use a computer while yours is being repaired, try one of the many that are available on the WSU campus.

What forms of payment are accepted?

You must pay with a money order at the time the computer is picked up. Cash, check, or credit card will not be accepted.
