Wimba Live Classroom for WSU students

Contents

What is Wimba?

Wimba Live Classroom is a fully featured, virtual live classroom that is integrated into your Blackboard course site to help you make the most of your online courses. Wimba Live Classroom supports audio, video, application sharing, and content display. This enables instructors to add vitally important elements of interaction that simply cannot be provided in a text-based course. Uses for Wimba Live Classroom include live online classes, office hours, guest lectures, Webcasts, and meetings.

Who can use it?

Wimba Live Classroom is available to all WSU students and faculty who use the Blackboard Learning System at Wayne State. You access Wimba the same way you would access any other tool within Blackboard.

What do I need?

No additional software is needed to use Wimba Live Classroom. Wimba is integrated into your Blackboard course site.

The first time you use Wimba, however, the system runs you through a wizard that checks to see whether your computer is configured to optimize all the Wimba features. You then may be referred to Websites where you can get the required plug-ins for your Web browser.
