Wimba Live Classroom for WSU faculty

Contents

What is Wimba?

Wimba Live Classroom is a fully featured, virtual live classroom that is integrated into your Blackboard course site. Wimba Live Classroom supports audio, video, application sharing, and content display, enabling faculty and instructors to add vitally important elements of interaction that simply cannot be provided in a text-based course. Uses for Wimba Live Classroom include live online classes, office hours, guest lectures, Webcasts, and meetings.

How do I use it?

Enable Wimba in your Blackboard course

To enable Wimba Live Classroom in your Blackboard course site, send an e-mail to the Blackboard Support Team in Computing & Information Technology at bbadmin@wayne.edu. The request must include faculty member’s name, AccessID, term, course ID, and three-digit section number (e.g., 001).

NOTE: There is a two-business day turnaround to enable a course site as WSU's Blackboard system administrator currently accomplishes this manually.

Obtain Wimba consultation and training

WSU faculty and instructors interested in exploring Wimba Live Classroom for instructional use are encouraged to contact Anne-Marie Armstrong in WSU's Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL), via e-mail at dv3709@wayne.edu or by phone at (313) 577-5605.

You can take advantage of the Wimba workshops through the OTL or schedule a one-on-one consultation.

For additional information about Wimba Live Classroom, faculty may also wish to explore the Wimba Website.
