Banner Systems Access from Home
Wayne State employees can access the Banner Systems
from their home computer
using SSL VPN (WSU's Virtual Private Network
that uses Secure Sockets Layer protocol).
There are some important items to point out about accessing the
Banner System on a home computer:
- Banner is available Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to midnight.
For the most up-to-date information, check the C&IT System
Status page.
- The home computer must meet the Administrative
Desktop Computing Standards for Banner. Macintosh home computers require
the Virtual PC program.
- Before accessing Banner, the Oracle JInitiator
Web browser plug-in must be installed and configured.
- Downloading Oracle JInitiator will not be a problem over a high-speed
connection.
- However, over a 56k dial-in connection,
the download can take 45 minutes or longer. Instead, we suggest that
you copy JInitiator to a zip disk or burn it to a CD when you are in
your office.
