Your Password

Don't know your AccessID password?

  • Students and newly hired faculty or staff: Your initial AccessID password is the 9-digit Personal ID (PID) number on your Wayne State OneCard. This number is mailed to new students when they apply to WSU.
  • For all others: Call the Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) Help Desk at (313) 577-4778.

Know your password and want to change it?

Wayne State University students, faculty, staff, retirees, and guests are required to follow the Strong Password Standard when creating a new password to access WSU computing systems.

To change your AccessID password, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to WSU Pipeline and click the Account icon Account in the upper-right corner of your screen.
    OR
    Log in to Wayne Connect, look for Zimlets in the left pane and click Account Management.
  2. Click the Change Your Password link.
  3. Read the instructions, which provide you with two convenient methods for creating a strong password:
    • a manual method you can use to create a strong password that is easy to remember
    • a system-generated method that is random but quick
  4. Fill in the boxes as follows:
    • Your current password: Type in the password you now use.
    • Create a new password: Type in a new password that follows the AccessID Requirements listed. As you type, a Strength Measurement Tool will indicate the score. C&IT recommends that you create a password with the highest strength score possible.
    • Verify new password: Type the new password again.
  5. Click the OK button.

Forgot your password?

  • If you set a challenge question and response for changing your AccessID, go to the log-in page for WSU Pipeline or Wayne Connect, click Forgot your password?, and follow the prompts.
  • If you did not set a challenge question, call the C&IT Help Desk at (313) 577-4778.

To set a challenge question and response for the future (so you can change your AccessID password yourself if you forget it):

  1. Log in to WSU Pipeline and click the Account icon Account in the upper right corner of your screen.
    OR
    Log in to Wayne Connect, look for Zimlets in the left pane and click Account Management.
  2. Click Select Challenge Question link.
  3. Select one of the Challenge Questions from the pull-down menu.
  4. Type in your response or answer to the question in the space provided.
  5. Click OK.
