Are you retiring from Wayne State? Are you wondering, "What happens to my AccessID?, Can I continue using any computing services and resources at Wayne State?"
Well, here are the answers.
After you retire from Wayne State, you can continue to use your WSU AccessID
and password to access some WSU
computing services and resources. However, in order to continue using your
AccessID, you must fill out the Total Commensation and Wellness
(www.hr.wayne.edu/tcw/) form, Retiree
AccessID Request
,
at least two weeks prior to retirement. If you do
not fill out the form, your AccessID will be frozen and kept on record for
reactivation later should you return to Wayne State University as an employee
or a student.
If you are already retired, and want an AccessID, contact
the Total
Compensation and Wellness (www.hr.wayne.edu/tcw/)
office and obtain the Retiree
AccessID Request
form.
Fill it out, submit it, and allow two weeks for processing.
¹ As a retiree, you will continue to receive some e-mail messages sent from Wayne State offices. WSU Bulk Mail services are automated and integrated with the University’s information systems, so individual e-mail addresses cannot be removed .
If you just received your WSU AccessID, you need to log on to WSU WebMail so that you can change your password. AccessID passwords must be from six to ten characters in length. See Requirements for a WSU AccessID Password (computing.wayne.edu/accessid/pwdreqs.php).
While you are changing your password, you also can set a challenge question (so you can change your password yourself if you forget it), set mail forwarding (if you choose to read your mail on another e-mail account), and designate an E-mail Name (to personalize your WSU E-mail address):
To make changes in the future:
Yes, you can continue using another e-mail address and still take advantage of the other services your WSU AccessID offers. However, make sure that you forward your WSU E-mail to that address:
Colleagues, associates, and friends can search for you or your e-mail address in the WSU Online Directory. To search the Directory:
WSU retirees can find free or for purchase Internet access through any of a number of commercial Internet service providers. WSU's Division of Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) recommends high-speed Internet access to optimize the performance of computers, applications, and online services and to make it easier for you to keep operating systems and virus protection software up to date. A wide range of high-speed broadband services (cable, DSL, satellite, wireless) is available throughout southeast Michigan.
If high-speed Internet access is not an option at your residence, a commercial dial-in Internet service, the most basic means of Internet access available, is another alternative.
WSU does not make recommendations. However, the Web page, Finding an Internet Service Provider, provides online resources that may help you find a local Internet Service Provider.
The best place to go for information about computing services at Wayne State is the C&IT Website — computing.wayne.edu. If you need additional help, contact the C&IT Help Desk by phone at (313) 577-4778 or e-mail to helpdesk@wayne.edu.
